Encryption Option

Arkeia Software's Encryption option takes a novel approach to data encryption: encrypt data at the source. Arkeia's Encryption protects critical data by automatically encrypting data at the Client machine, before transversing the network. This significantly reduces the risk of sending unprotected data from Client to Backup Server. Additionally, the data is encrypted on the storage media to add protection from the cradle to the grave.

Encryption at the Client means improved backup performance since client-side encryption reduces the backup window by leveraging under-utilized processing of Client machines (rather than the Backup Server).

Data encryption is designed to circumvent sniffers on untrusted networks and provides confidentiality for flow contents. Encryption protects data while it is transiting through 'untrusted' or unknown networks.

Furthermore, data is not decrypted before it is written to tape, so it is in fact completely secure on the backup tape even if it is stolen or lost.
